I don't understand why this wasn't included with the tent

This rainfly is really just a very thin piece of tent material that goes over the poles of the instant tent to make a second roof. If you folded it up tightly enough, you could fit it in your pocket. That being said, I don't understand why Coleman decided to make this an accessory purchase, rather than include it with the tent, unless they only have profits in mind, and not the customer or quality of their products. It's something that's included in even the cheapest of Walmart tents. If it rains, you don't want to not have a rainfly attached. On our instant tent, there is a vent in the roof that unless it's open, you get condensation all over the tent walls. If it's raining, you obviously can't open the vent, because water will get in, so you have the choice of a slow drip, or getting your sleeping bag, clothes and everything else wet with sweat, hot breath and rain water condensation. I recommend buying this for that reason alone.However, just because I think it's a required "accessory," I still don't think it lives up to the 25 dollar price tag or it's marketing claims. First, it does not create a "spacious vestibule outside-- perfect for stowing shoes and other gear." I got that from the amazon listing. I had to look up vestibule in the dictionary, and after testing our new tent and rainfly in the field, I felt jipped that I paid for a vestibule and did not get one. It does not create any space outside the tent besides the 4-5 inch clearance between the tent and the rainfly, and you can't even crack open the windows while it's raining because the rainfly doesn't reach down far enough. As I mentioned, all it does is the very basic job of keeping rain out of your tent. That this was not included in my tent purchase, along with the fact that it doesn't do what is advertised with creating more usable space makes this a disappointing product. That said, if you know what to expect, maybe you won't be as disappointed.

Took Months to Get!

Finally recieved after a few months of waiting but the Coleman 4 Person Instant Tent needs this if you want to stay dry as the seams do leak if you don't have the rainfly.

When I bought this item there was no picture available, although I note there is now a picture. I live in New Zealand where Coleman advertise the tent with a much more comprehensive fly, which is what I thought I would get. Apparently, although it is the same company, as I now know,they make different variations which are not interchangeable. So, buyer beware! It was a cheap purchase, and will serve some purpose, but maybe Amazon shouldn't advertise items like this unless they have a picture!A request to the NZ distributor has gone without reply, so although I got replies from the US and Australia, I'm still waiting to find out if I can get what I originally wanted.
